Description

For the 2019 Mapcore CS:GO mapping contest I created assets for and helped build the world of Anubis, set in an imagined Egyptian temple based on various real locations such as the temples at Philae and Edfu.
For reference we collected a mix of real-world and fictional depictions of the ancient temples, trying to find a good balance between the two. Both have been leveraged to create a setting that is grounded but leaves a distinct impression on the player. Much of the level art shown here was done by jd40, who blew me away with creativity and vision when integrating the assets into a fully realized environment. The layout of this map was created and tested by Roald van der Scheur. Roald also provided countless ideas and moral support during the months-long art process. Anubis was added to the game and has been available in official competitive matchmaking since April 2020. |
